Welcome to winter 2023 Hopezine!

Debt and money troubles can have a huge impact on mental health. And it’s a growing problem. In the UK, people owed a whooping £1,843.8 billion at the end of this summer. This is up by £37.3 billion last year, according to The Money Charity. I hope to address this in this cash-flow special edition of Hopezine, for better mental health.

As GPDr. Hana Patel writes in this issue, financial and money worries are often reasons that patients consult with her at her practice. So, together with two more well-being experts, and my own guide to claiming benefits and taking on self-employment work, we aim to offer hope to you!

Once your finances are in order you can maybe think about taking a well-earned break. This month I travel for a well-being boost to a sunny spot in the Algarve. And Accessibility Consultant Paul Nicholls writes about his recent wheelchair-friendly, winter sunshine destination for you to consider – I went along, too, and it’s super-accessible!

We hope this issue brings you a little warmth and hope amid the cool winter months.
