Accessible travel at Manchester United

By Paul Nicholls

For this issue we visit a very special night of VIP hospitality,
The Gallery Restaurant at Manchester United’s stadium,
Old Trafford. The accessibility part of our evening was well
planned by staff ahead of our visit and they arranged a
far-reaching corner box for us to watch the game in. We ate all
we could in the restaurant (medium rare steak, if you’re asking)
and there was also unlimited whiskey and champagne on tap.
Then Manchester United and Sevilla kick off for the 2022-23
UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals. And, it’s a scream! The box
we watch the game in gave us a great view and the unlimited
drinks come in handy as Sevilla equalised from two goals down,
in the final minutes. We then have a squiffy, swerving wheel and
walk back to the Salford Quay’s Travelodge which is basic but
comfortable. If we hadn’t had enough of all you can eat in the
restaurant, I decide to invest in a tuna and cucumber sandwich
from Tesco Express, en route to the hotel. Not quite what I’ve
come to expect of myself after a night’s drinking! All in all it was
a great night, regardless of the 2-2 draw.
