With over 12 million people in the UK holding a criminal record, it’s time Hopezine handed over it’s pages to law-abiding citizens who have criminal records. This summer is the special
edition made with members of the charity, Unlock, for people with criminal records.
Think it doesn’t apply to you? Tried cannabis in your teens or recently sped at 40 mph in a 30
zone? We thought as much!
So, with this in mind we bring you philosophy and pearls of wisdom from people who’ve
overcome the adversity of a criminal record. Writer Jen Mcpherson tells us about a second chance getting her degree with the Open University. Later, writer Con Cord shares what he found serving a life sentence. Finally, as part of our commitment to accessible travel, Paul Nicholls and I visit a farm studio in Suffolk, a former farmland that’s been given a new lease of life.
I implore you not to takeaway a pearl of wisdom or two from this summer’s contributors – whether a shiny and hopeful new outlook or hope for a second chance.
Enjoy!
