What is real to me?

By Emma Redfern

Nature is an escape for me; away from built up, urban environments. Being in a town or city feels exhausting, nothing around me is natural or meant to be there. Going on walks and experiencing nature how it should be is relaxing. I enjoy watching the birds fly past, the clouds dancing across the sky and the sunshine come and go. Natural environments feel real to me. I felt this photograph perfectly represented how natural environments are real to me. The sun is shining yet the darkness in the clouds feels intimidating however also homely. The rolling hills feel to go on forever, however with most things, there is always a hint of our intervention somewhere in the landscape, like the power station far in the distance. Even when I try to escape the urban environments we have built up over many years, they always seem to appear somewhere in the natural environment, reminding us of how we have affected the planet.
