Kindred Souls

By Alan Hartley

In the quiet chambers of the heart,

Where shadows linger, and fears depart,

There blooms a garden, tended with care,

Where friendships thrive, beyond compare.

When storms assail, and skies turn gray,

Friends gather close, their warmth at bay,

They weave a tapestry of solace and song,

A lifeline strong when everything feels wrong.

For in their laughter, healing resides,

A balm for wounds, where hope abides,

They see beyond the veil of despair,

Embrace the broken, whisper, “We’re here.”

When anxiety dances, a tempest wild,

Friends become anchors, steadfast and mild,

They lend their strength, their shoulders wide,

And say, “You’re not alone in this tide.”

Depression’s fog may cloud the view,

Yet friends illuminate paths anew,

They hold your hand, guide you through,

Their love a compass, unwavering and true.

In the labyrinth of mental strife,

Friends are lanterns, igniting life,

They share their stories, scars revealed,

A chorus of resilience, unconcealed.

Together, we wade through murky streams,

Chasing sunbeams, chasing dreams,

They teach us courage, grace, and trust,

That vulnerability need not be unjust.

So raise a cup to these kindred souls,

The ones who mend and make us whole,

For in their presence, we find our way,

Through darkness into the light of day.

And when the world feels cold and vast,

Remember this: friendships forever last,

They’re lifelines, lifelines we hold dear,

Guiding us toward hope, year after year.
