TRAVEL FOR WELLBEING – Wyndham Grand Algarve

By Erica Crompton

There’s something about a winter-sun holiday that helps promote a sense of well-being. For this money special issue of Hopezine we popped a trip to Portugal on the credit card to try out a stay at one of Europe’s most exclusive hotels, the Wyndham Grand Algarve. From the off, it was clear that this was going to be a break punctuated by style and serenity – the reception all expensive artwork and generous space. We’re taken to our one-bedroom suite along a corridor decked out in bamboo plants, contemporary lighting and high ceilings. Our stay gets more comfy, too. With the glorious sunshine and pool to laze-in for the day, and celebrity chef’s Olivier XXL restaurant on hand for the evening, it was easy to forget that at home I’ve a serious mental illness to manage. This is one of the most important things in managing well-being – a seriously sunny break is worth it’s weight in gold for my mental health. I forgot I had a mental illness for our 3-night stay! A highlight of the Wyndham for me was the friendly-yet-helpful customer service and a vast selection of cheese and meats for a continental breakfast. Save on flights here by booking with EasyJet or Ryanair and make use of each suite’s self-catering kitchen by shopping at the local convenience store just a five-minute stroll away – it’s all the basics and an astounding selection of champagnes too! wyndhamgrandalgarve.com
